To/from Arlanda Airport by train, bus or taxi . 

Arlanda, Stockholm's main airport, is located north of the city. The Arlanda Express train leaves every 15 min and takes 15 min to reach the city. SEK 240 one way. Buy your ticket from one of the machines in the airport terminal or on the platform. The tickets are more expensive aboard the train. www.arlandaexpress.com.

Airport buses cost SEK 220 return and take ca. 30 min. Tickets can be bought on the internet at www.flygbussarna.se.

After arriving at the central station take the subway towards Mörby Centrum. A taxi from the station to YKI/centrally located hotels takes ca. 15 min and costs ca. SEK 150.

Stockholm Skavsta airport is located 100 km south of Stockholm. The bus costs SEK 200 return and takes 60 min to reach Stockholm central station. A taxi costs ca. SEK 1500.

Stockholm Bromma Airport is approximately a 15-minute drive from the City Terminal, but the drive may take longer depending on the traffic situation. The bus costs SEK 150 return and a taxi costs ca. SEK 300.

Taxi
Taxi from Arlanda airport to the conference venue/hotel costs ca. SEK 500 (fixed price) and takes 30-40 min. We recommend you to always use one of these major companies when traveling by taxi and ask about the price beforehand. We recommend Taxi Stockholm or Taxi Kurir.

Public transport

Stockholm's subway is an efficient and cost-effective means of transport. Pay a fee and travel within the Greater Stockholm Area on the subway, buses and commuter trains during one hour. You do not need to buy a new ticket when you change as long as it is within one hour.

Note! Buy your ticket at "Pressbyrån", Seven Eleven or at the SL center at the central station. Tickets are more expensive at the subway ticket window. Tickets cannot be bought aboard buses.

Discount coupons and day cards can be an interesting option if you plan several and long trips per day.

Stockholm Card
If you are staying longer, or for an accompanying person, it can be a good idea to purchase a Stockholm Card. This gives unlimited travel on Greater Stockholm's public transport and free entry to museums and attractions. SEK 375 for 24 h, SEK 495 for 48 h and SEK 595 for 72 h. Can be bought at www.stockholmtown.com or in Stockholm at tourist offices or SL centers.

Museums
Most museums, like the famous Vasa museum, are located on Djurgården. Several museums can also be found on or close to Skeppsholmen.

Shopping
Most shops are open Mon-Fri 10-19, Sat 10-17, Sun 12-17. The major department stores are NK Hamngatan 18-20 and Åhléns at Klarabergsgatan 50. Closest subway: T-centralen. Smaller shopping malls are Gallerian on Hamngatan and Sturegallerian just opposite the conference venue. The main shopping streets are Hamngatan, Drottninggatan, Sergelgatan, Kungsgatan, Hamngatan and the more exclusive Biblioteksgatan, Birger Jarlsgatan and Stureplan

Service charge
Included in prices. Not common to tip at hotels, to taxi drivers or at lunch restaurants. In the evening, if satisfied with the service, it is common to round off to an even sum.

Districts and sights
Gamla Stan (the Old Town) with the Royal Palace and Storkyrkan. For a more genuine experience leave the main tourist street Västerlånggatan and walk through Österlånggatan and Svartmannagatan up to Stortorget, where the Nobel Museum is located.

Skeppsholmen
Skeppsholmen is home to the Museum of Modern Art. On the way out to Skeppsholmen you pass the Grand Hotel where the Nobel laureates stay and NationalMuseum with art pre 1900 and crafts/design up to today.

Djurgården
A royal island with many museums, including the Vasa Museum with a magnificent well-preserved 17-th century battle ship. See www.vasamuseet.se for opening hours. If you are an art lover you will enjoy a visit to Waldemarsudde, former home to Prince Eugen, or Thielska Galleriet. Both have excellent collections of Nordic art from around 1900.

To get to Djurgården, walk from the city center along Strandvägen or take a bus or even better a ferry from Gamla Stan/Skeppsbron.

Södermalm
Södermalm, “Söder” is a lively part of the city with many pubs and restaurants, especially on Götgatan between Slussen and Medborgarplatsen and around Nytorgsgatan. The area South of Folkungatan “SoFo” is home to many trendy younger designer shops.

Östermalm
Östermalm is a fashionable, calmer part of the city with boutiques. Most shops are in lower Östermalm around Stureplan, Grev Turegatan, Humlegårdsgatan and Nybrogatan. The food hall “Östermalmshallen” on Östermalmstorg is worth visiting for a coffee, lunch or just to look.

Vasastan and Kungsholmen
If you wish to leave the beaten tourist track a bit, take the subway to Odenplan, S:t Eriksplan in Vasastan or Fridhemsplan on Kungsholmen. Residential areas in the city with shops, restaurants and cafés.

City Hall/Stadshuset
The City Hall with its beautiful courtyard is a magnificent building on the water front of Lake Mälaren. Each year in December the Nobel Banquet is held here. The City Hall is close to the central station and can be visited during daily tours.

Stockholm on Water
Stockholm is a city on islands so a nice way to enjoy the city is from a boat. Take a round trip from outside Grand Hotel or take a longer tour in Lake Mälaren to the Palace Drottningholm or out into the archipelago (e.g. Vaxholm).

Walks
Around Skeppsholmen out to Kastellholmen.

Djurgården, turn left after the bridge, walk along the north side of the island, follow signs towards the garden Rosendal, then down to Waldemarsudde where you can take a bus back to town.

Take the bus to the eastern tip of Djurgården, Blockhusudden. Walk along the south side of the island past Biskopsudden to Waldemarsudde.

Kungsholmen. Norr Mälarstrand from the City Hall westwards.

Söder. Subway to Mariatorget. Walk up Bellmansgatan to Monteliusvägen on Mariaberget. Lovely view over Lake Mälaren with the City Hall on the other side. Walk west towards Skinnarviksberget. Fjällgatan on the northeast of Söder is a famous spot to view Stockholm.
