Prodrugs - pro-fragrances and insect repellents with slow release profiles
Another example of an in-house development within the area of chemicals is a new concept for controlled delivery of drugs, fragrances, flavours etc.
The concept is based on a storage stabile, odourless precursor molecule that controllably breaks down into the desired drug, fragrance or flavour as soon as it is dissolved in water or blood. To be delivered by this concept, the molecule in question has to have a keto-group in its structure, which opens up several opportunities outside the above mentioned areas. One example is slow release of insect repellents.
